Jeong Yun-seong, managing director of market research company Omdia, recently said that LG Display is expected to ship 12 million liquid crystal (LCD) TV panels next year, of which 9 million will be shipped to Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics, while Sales to Samsung Electronics are expected to exceed those of LG Electronics.

LG Display's LCD TV panel shipments next year are expected to be 1.5 times this year's 8 million shipments. LG Display currently only produces LCD TV panels at its Guangzhou LCD factory in China. Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics have asked LG Display to expand LCD TV panels. Panel production to reduce dependence on Chinese panel manufacturers for LCD TV panels.

It is reported that this year, Chinese panel manufacturers have an estimated share of 85% in LG Electronics’ LCD TV panel market and 55% in Samsung Electronics’ LCD TV panel market. Jeong Yun-seong said that in the LCD TV panel market of Korean TV companies, the proportion of Chinese panel companies has increased significantly. Korean TV companies may be able to increase the proportion of panel companies such as Japan, but panel companies in these regions have limited production capacity.

Omdia predicts that LG Display and Samsung Display will ship 7.2 million OLED TV panels next year, which is 1.5 million more than this year's 5.7 million units. In addition, LG Display’s large W-OLED TV panel shipments are expected to increase from 4.7 million this year to 5.7 million next year, and Samsung Display’s large quantum dot (QD)-OLED TV panel shipments are expected to increase from this year increase from 1 million pieces to 1.5 million pieces next year.
